Today, I can FEEL exactly where my body was 3 years ago: the softly humid weather on my skin, the smell of the ocean air, the tingling anticipation early in the day around me, the extra magical-ness of every little activity and place we went, the high of being so happy for/ with your people.
I was in Rhode Island, photographing Jordan & Brian’s wedding & reception at the Rotunda Ballroom, surrounded by so many people that I absolutely, completely, love. Surrounded by a special community & collective of humans.By at the end of the wedding day, we were all left with a sense of awe & wonder for how beautiful life really is, so much so that we were led into a space of interconnectedness with each other & The Divine where we just… held each other. Held each other with hands, tears, song, hugs. Honored Jordan & Brian. It was like the joy was bursting out of our bodies.
It was like the movie you didn’t want to end.
Not often, but every so often, I have the special pleasure of documenting my friends weddings. I guess, at the end of today, it’s reminding me yet again of the power of nostalgia that comes with photography. Your moments don’t last forever. You never know when you’re going to be with these people again. You never know when you’re going to feel like you did at that moment in life, if ever again.
And that, is why I do what I do.
