Okay, so, Purgatory Chasm! It’s a cool state reservation land with trails to explore, rocks to climb, and nature to see/experience/ hold (if you’re like me or Nick here who love to pick up little wildlife along the way)…
Purgatory itself though? * UGHHHHH * ! Who likes to wait for things? (hint: not me!)
Whether or not you imagine literal spiritual purgatory, let's put it like this: when you’re engaged and have a lot of time before that big wedding day, it can kinda maybe sorta kinda feel like 4EVER until it arrives.
That, however, doesn’t feel like the case with Kiernan & Nick. On our little woodsy adventure, I got to learn more about who they are as a couple and experience their relationship…. and let me tell you these are the kind of people who live life like its one cinematic beautiful moment.
Which, in turn, made entire vibe of the session so super chill and not rushed or anything. It felt so in the moment, every shot.
Kiernan & Nick's exchanging of inside jokes, smiles in appreciation for each other and the nature that surrounded them… thats the kind of stuff that truly translates so beautifully in photographs. Feelings. Nobody wants to be stressed and feel like engagement portraits are a chore. They’re meant to be a mini adventure, in my opinion.
What made this entire evening the loveliest, was when we went back and did some at-home portraits on their decked out porch. Just hanging out. Put on some of their favorite tunes to dance to, and just enjoyed that soft summer air.
… And yes, they brought out the kitties!
At the end of the day, I’m just here to document & highlight the aspects of life we share with one another. What fill our days is what fills our heart, and vice versa. Photographs are a means of being able to express nostalgia and reflect on all the details that make the present moment so damn beautiful, you know?
Cheers to being in the moment.
